老鬼，1947年生于河北省阜平县，4岁时来到北京父母身边； 小学— 华北小学、育才小学； 初中— 北京师大一附中； 高中— 北京47中； 1968年冬，去内蒙古锡林郭勒盟西乌旗插队； 1976年冬，离开草原去大同矿山机械厂当工人； 1977年底，考入北京大学中文系新闻专业； 毕业后曾在文化艺术出版社任编辑，后调到《法制日报》； 1990年，应美国布朗大学之邀，在该校英语系写作中心做访问学者； 1995年12月回国。 主要著作： 《血色黄昏》 《血与铁》 《母亲杨沫》 《放“下河东”》（待出版） 《河北的彭德怀—胡开明》（待出版） 《不屈的老囚徒》翻译作品（待出版）等
